A Full Life in the Emptiest of Places
July 13, 2008
Ever since a friend forwarded the following Message scriptures to me, the words have haunted, defined, challenged and convicted me! If someone told me that I had to destroy any Bible I own but I was allowed to keep one passage for the rest of my life, it would be this …
“If you get rid of unfair practices, quit blaming victims,
quit gossiping about other people’s sins,
If you are generous with the hungry and start giving
yourselves to the down-and-out,
Your lives will begin to glow in the darkness,
your shadowed lives will be bathed in sunlight.
I will always show you wehre to go
I’ll give you a full life in the emptiest of places–
firm muscles, strong bones.
You’ll be like a well-watered garden,
a gurgling spring that never runs dry.
You’ll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew,
rebuild the foundations from out of your past.
You’ll be known as those who can fix anything,
restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate,
make the community livable again.”
My heart’s cry is to lose my life in and for Him, even while the sinful nature tugs and wants to war within me. God’s greatness IS greater than any other force of nature period, and it is to HIM and that greatness I run and cling. People around us are crying out for help from their circumstances … by living out the scriptures above, my life can be the conduit through which God can and will affect His greatness in every corner, driving out darkness and replacing with Light Everlasting.
It’s so wonderful to see you blogging again!! I had a friend give me a copy of that same passage when I went on a trip once – too cool=)
